Fred V - Catch You
Fred V and Grafix are both producers I'm digging, but right I'm just here to talk about Fred. I don't know if I can accurately convey how classy I feel this song is. It has a mysterious noir sound that creates an itch you can never fully scratch.
From :00 you jump right into action, the percussion pulling you along. The sudden discordant piano screel is like ice water down your spine, unexpected and unsettling. The pace is urgent but not rushed, the deliberate thrill of a well-controlled vehicle speeding across wet pavement in the dead of night. The bass keeps pace like a car chase, putting me in mind of the speeder bike feel of Sub Focus's, 'Follow the Light'. It's some fantastic dnb that comes highly recommended if you found this track appealing, but where that track lulls me into a flowing stream of peace, Catch You feels like being thrown into whitewater rapids. The unsung hero of the tune is the percussion: enhanced by nearly every layer of this sumptuous piece, it does such a good job of fitting in that its absence at 2:34 is a shock only topped by its triumphant re-entry.
